Canadian musicians, Tegan and Sara, whose latest album release was 2007's "The Con" have been a driving force in the Canadian Indie scene for years now. Since the 90's they've released 5 albums and are generally known for their beautiful yet spunky song stylings. This time, they've have taken up arms in the realm of kidney research. Brush Of Hope CampaignThe Brush of Hope Campaign provides a unique opportunity to both celebrities and fans alike. It is a chance for fans to take home something specially made by a celebrity while helping fund Kidney research. It's sort of a win/win situation. Brush of Hope is a project of The Kidney Foundation of Canada and it aims to help find a cure for kidney disease by funding research in a unique and provacative way. All funds raised through the sales of the celebrity paintings will be used by The Kidney Foundation to fund innovative research in order to reduce the burden of kidney disease. Tegan and Sara have signed and dated the back of the painting to certify authenticity. Readers can learn more about the opportunity and view the painting here. The Quins were also involved in the HRC Painting Project. It seems painting is something they enjoy quite often. Paintings from the HRC Project can be viewed here. More on Tegan and SaraThe Quin sisters have been writing and performing music since thier childhood. The twins share the responsibility of writing songs on their albums. They are both involved in vocals and guitar work, though the twin that wrote the song usually takes the lead melody. It is usually easy to tell which twin wrote the song. Tegan has no trouble cranking out catchy tunes with edgy lyrics and as such a majority of the songs they record have been written by Tegan. Sara take a bit longer writing her songs and listeners can usually tell which ones were written by Sara. She writes the richly textured musical riffs and her lyrics are usually of a more personal emotive nature. The girls are both passionate rockers ready to do their part to help the world out as is evident by their participation in the "Hope" campaign.
